Recommendation for first LWRC piston upper?

Postby burninglegs » Wed Oct 11, 2017 10:29 am

I ordered a LWRC DI last week and I should be getting soon. Excited to finally get a LWRC after finding one for a great deal. I would also like to add a LWRC piston upper. What would you guys recommend for a first upper? I don't currently shoot suppressed, but have contemplated paying the $200 and waiting to get one.

If that is the case, do I really want to go the A5 or Enhanced route to get the adjustable gas block? Or would the A2 or SPR be just as good options as well?

Thanks. That was the one I was leaning towards to begin with. Who knows, maybe I'll end up selling my DI upper after I get an A5 and use it for awhile.

Or just get an A5 upper only at the next web sale...

Two rifles in one, that's a win-win either way you look at it.
I'll just sit here quietly and play with my new rail panels...........

Go with the A5. Longer rail and adjustable gas block. The Enhanced has a shorter rail and a bayonet lug. That's going to be the real difference.

I'm thinking I should go with a 16.1" upper first and then eventually get a 10.5"/12.7" upper for a pistol/SBR build. Or should I flip it around? All of my DI ARs are 16" except for one pistol AR.

That all depends on the ranges you will be shooting at. Up close and personal I would take the A5 10.5". At distance the 16" will work well.

My A510.5 is one of my favorites
