Looking for a scope

Postby Russellnyg745 » Fri Aug 19, 2016 12:58 am

Looking to get something for my lwrc di m6ic. I want to be able to have an optic that is good out to 300 yards but still be able to have the ability to shoot at short ranges as well. I was thinking of going with a 1x-4.5x. Ive seen some nikons that are decent and well priced but i want something alittle better. Budget would be up to $500. Im currently running magpul mbus pro sights on it now. Can hit a 12 inch plate at 300 yards but not as comsistantly as id like. Also what mount would work best to keep the scope nice and low. Looking for a 1 piece qd mount. Your time and advice is much appreciated!

Vortex Strike Eagle or Viper PST 1-4. I have the PST. If the $500 budget includes the mount, then the Strike Eagle would be a better option.

Thanks for the quick reply! Did some research on the strike eagle and i think im going to go with your suggestion. What mount would you suggest? I want something low but not so low that it hits my rear mbus sight. Again thanks for the advice

I second the 1-4pst or the strike eagle. I love my 1-4 pst. I have a ADM recon mount on mine, and I think I paid 150 or so for it. I'll have to check my receipt, might be wrong about that. If you don't want a QD mount, the Aero scope mounts are pretty light. Image

Vortex makes some good stuff. I haven't had to use the warranty, but the reviews I've read said that they have a pretty good customer service.

Thank you guys for all your advice. The new field and stream/dicks sporting goods had a sale today. Any purchase over $300 got $100 off. I dont like giving money to big box stores but i couldnt pass up on this sale. Got the vortex for $220. Also got a leopold mount for another $100. So all in all got the scope and mount for $320! Looks awsome on my lwrc di m6ic.

Nice!!! That's a great deal! Let us know how it works out. I've heard some good things about the StrikeEagle.

nice pick up for the price. obviously a range report is in order once you've been.

Made it to the range this morning after work(i work over nights, yes it sucks). Just did some bench shooting maybe 300 rounds total. Monting the scope is straight forward, the quality feel of the optic is very nice especially for the price. I noticed right away that the illumination settings are pointless, it will be on 11 every time its used. This is a cause for concern due to battery life. There is an extra battery in the windage cap tho. Took a total of 5 shots to zero in at 50 yards. The glass is nice and clear and offers good eye relief. The bdc reticle works as advertised. All 10 rounds hit 100, 200 and 300 yard 12 inch plate. Only downside is its on the heavy side (nbd really) and battery life may be a concern having to use it on the highest setting all the time (no you dont need it on all the time). All in all im extremelly happy with the scope and would recomend it to any one. I dont shoot competitions and mainly do alot of bench shooting (not much for competitions here in NY due to gun laws, dont get me started on that....) if your looking to not spend a ton of money buy it, you wont regret it!

Also forgot to add that 1x isnt really a true 1x. More like 1.1x, not a big deal due to price point of the optic.
