Good News!

Postby straightgrain » Wed Dec 05, 2012 7:55 am

After several years of effort, DOJ has finally lifted the ATF hiring freeze in Martinsburg and has authorized the addition of 9 new NFA Examiners. This is in addition to the dozen contractors currently acting as examiner/research assistants to the existing 10 examiners plus 1 supervisor. This brings the total number of folks working to push NFA forms through the system to around 30+...

ATF has advised that the first few additions are already being processed and that they expect to have all of the positions spoken for in short order. Of course, there will be an onboarding process that includes background checks, etc. and then a training process to bring them up to speed. Hopefully, we should see a near doubling a throughput by this time next year! Constant pressure by NFATCA was instrumental in creating this needed increase in staffing and funding. Thanks to all who support the NFATCA efforts to address issues that affect us all.

Excellent news, Jeff. Now if they would eliminate the CLEO sign off. . .

Guys, show some support for NFATCA. This is just one example of the good work they do. An associate membership is only $50/year and it's probably the best bang/buck of any of the firearms rights organizations.

Sounds too good to be true, but I hope it is.

This is good news. Our customers will be happy to see form 4 times start to fall from the current 6+ months. I would sure like to see the form 2/3 times improve. Our examiner was taking 2 months to approve form 3's which is crazy.

My personal opinion is that it will never happen. The keys are the politicians' self serving need for reelection and the funding issue. This government is broke. And the Republican controlled House still holds the purse strings.

Yeah I have a feeling that there is a hidden agenda that will rears its ugly head in the first or second quarter of next year.
