After doing more research, I found out that back in the day LWRC offered a service where people could send in their DGI rifles, and LWRC would adapt and install their piston kits onto the customer's existing rifle (for a nominal fee, of course). I am not sure when they offered this service, as I am not aware of it being offered since I have been a customer (2009), but being that it was once an option, I cannot imagine this as being new info to everyone. But my apologies to LWRC if this is, my post was not intended that way.

They used to, I had them convert a Colt upper. It was overgassed though because the port was set up for a DI gun. I ended up sending it back and having them barrel it with an LWRC barrel.
