Cutting barrel to make a 12 inch barrel

Postby ksc83 » Sat Feb 25, 2017 8:53 am

I've come to the conclusion that I'll never find a 12.7 inch repr upper. I'm wondering if I could buy a 16inch or 20 inch upper and just have it cut. Thoughts? I'm wondering if it will affect the gas/piston

The REPR MK2 will come out with BARREL LENGTHS OF: 12.7”, 16.1", 20” But the new uppers aren't compatible with the REPR MK1

Yes you can have it cut but you may have issues that need to be worked out. You can also send in an upper to LWRC to have it re-barreled with a 12"

I need to keep my eyes out for a MK1 12.7" upper. I have a 16" upper at the moment, it's a fluted barrel, so it can't be cut down.

The 12.7" has a shorter handguard.

And the gas block is closer to the chamber. I don't believe you could cut a 16" (or any other length) down enough to get to 12.7 or anywhere close and still get a muzzle device on there let alone allow it to be suppressed. At this point, your best bet is probably a MKII.
