Missing piston cup, need help

Postby m6a2shooter » Mon Dec 01, 2014 9:34 pm

I have a m6a2 rifle which I took apart the piston assembly and had parts loose in my carry bag. Stupid yes, problem is I'm missing my piston cup that goes over the gas block. Not the spring cup that's easily purchased on there website. I can't find my piston cup and can't buy from website. I call Lwrc today and the webstore lady after having me on hold for awhile, she comes back on the phone to say they only run a limited quantity and they can't sell me anything. So at this point I think okay so now my rifles complete useless!, I need a piston cup! i would think they can sell you a part for a product they've sold you. So any forum vets know what I can do or where I can even come across a used one or something.. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

Well that's harsh. Hard to fathom they couldn't rustle up one to sell you. Not a "consumable" so finding an extra is gonna be tricky. Call Modern Outfitters?

Not really familiar with modern outfitters, but a quick goggle did bring up some info that they deal with firearms. you think they may have parts lying around?

He might, but persist with LWRC first. She was off her rocker. A.J. posted a while back that if we needed any part not listed on the webstore that they WILL sell it to us, period. Email Logan and Rodney, they will set you up.

LWRC has always been justifiably interested in preventing people from building guns out of LWRC parts. Their production, QC, and CS are a large part of what provide value to their brand. A little light searching would turn up countless threads on this forum, and others, of folks trying to build a gun out of spare/old parts and "just needing a piston cup." This is the one part of the system that LWRC has never sold en-masse. So, while this story is... A story, if I were the mothership, I wouldn't sell the OP the part either.

thewolff,
1. Clearly I wouldn't make a light search on building a gun out of parts cause that's not what I need.
2. I would believe the gas block to be the main item that's never sold.
Thanks for chimming in but you weren't any help. Already email Lwrc on the matter.
Will keep the thread posted and will gladly post pics of my rifle in any stance to prove that I actual have one.

Wolff, whereas I see where you (and LWRCI) are coming from, shite also does happen. Perhaps they could have explained this to the OP, if this is their position, and have him send in his rifle to be repaired. It's prudent to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he did indeed lose this part what is he supposed to do? M6A2 is a big and awfully expensive paper weight.

That's crazy talk... I've never had any problems with mine (M6-A2) but isn't that the reason they changed the styles? Cup issues?

Norm,
I think your referring to a spring cup, which is the only thing I know of style changes. What I'm missing is a piston cup. The cone shape that goes over the gas block.

Gotcha! Sorry! Surely they'll sell you one. Talk to Greg or Rodney.

Without the nozzle/gasblock it would be useless. I can see why they won't sell those parts.

Update!!! So I email one of the sales guys on Monday which promptly responded the following morning that he would take care of it. And today is Friday and it was in the mail and I'm stoked. So keep in mind people if you have issues reguardless of what it may be contact them, great fast customer services. I wouldn't expect for you to receive just any part of course but I received mine. In my opinion anything in a "fixed" position more then likely you'll have to send it in for repair. Thanks for those that help out here and of course Lwrc!
