Then the next tasks are finding scope and rings. Lookin at about a 10k rifle.

And just from my experience, you zero those big bores at 300m

You are correct the next optic will be the NF BEAST so it's my last big $$$ rifle. When I heard you can get 85% of the S&B at 50% of the cost???? Let's just say now someones speaking my language. I could go with a traditional bolt action and be way under the 10K figure. We have a resident expert on here who has built some NICE ones!!!!

Was just looking around online. A Barrette MRAD is about $5800, and you can purchase conversion kits in 308, 300, and 338 for $1550. So a 338 with a conversion is still cheaper than the AI at $7700. May end up being the route I go when I buy mine

If i don't stop buying it may be the Remington .308 , .300, .338 bolt action set with 1 1.5-2lb trigger. Then just throw the BEAST on it so my wife doesn't kill me!!!!!!

I wouldn't buy an mrad. Period. It's ridiculously heavy. I don't remember the exact weight, but when I held it, it felt like I was holding a m249 with a belt of ammo.

It's only 14.7 lbs with the longest barrel option. Doesn't seem too bad to me considering what it is. The .50 cal snipers we got to play with weighted in around 17lbs unloaded with a loaded box coming in at around 8lbs

By the time you add scope, mount, bipods... You have a 17lbs gun.

Dude. If it is 17lbs and isn't belt belt fed and has a cyclic rate of around 750rpm or more... I'm not interested

But carry enough ammo to feed a belt fed weighs more. I felt bad for the machine gunners that I would see.

I'll take long range precision over spray and pray. But we digress

Tarp, lots of options. If you want some other options my bro has a custom from Hill Country Tactical that modeled after the Marine 308 sniper rifle

1000yrds is where the .260 rem loves to eat. I've seen a video on YouTube stretching it out to like 1600yrds. Plus the recoil is much easier on the body, and with your pain issues, seems like a plausible option. Similar flight ballistics as .300wm

Take a look through these pages http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hi ... hread.html. There is a LOT of info from people who have and do shoot all versions of the DT rifles. I believe Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs makes custom barrels for them as well. I currently have a GA Precision built .338lm with a Badger FTE brake on it. Between the weight of the rifle and the brake it actually kicks less than my .308. It also weighs over 18 pounds unloaded. One thing to consider is the ergonomics on the bull pup design. You may want to try to get behind one of the rifles and see how it fits YOU. I have a friend who bought one with 3 different barrels without ever handling the rifle. He could not get used to the bolt throw and magwell location. He ended up selling it at a major loss after less than 250 rounds. They are great rifles and being able to put 1 scope on it and swap calibers in just a few minutes at the range is nice. If recoil is a concern look at either an APA Fat Bastard brake for a timed brake of either the APA Fat Bastard II or Badger FTE for an untimed brake if using a non brake mounted suppressor especially if going big bore .338 or larger.
If you are ever in a fair fight then your tactics have already failed!!!
