I've bought several at my local gun shop. They even get the super taps (7.62 version)

They finally figured out how to make it black and stay black. Suprised it took them so long, but I guess the guy who help come up with the thing moved on and moved on without leaving that little piece on finish aloing with him. At least they remember how now. I've got a couple in black and a few in ths silver. The black usually wins out unless it's on a stainless steel Noveske or something.

They are way overpriced, but it's KAC, what do people expect ?

What makes a carbine length and midlength? How would you turn a carbine length into a midlength?

Not a smith, but I think it has to do with how the gas works to cycle the bolt. So in tossing out a guess that it's the size of the gas port hole is.

For an LW gas piston though I'm not sure that works the same.

The gas port location is the difference.

Midlength means that the port location is some where between the carbine and rifle gas ports holes. This is dependant on the mfg. preference for the location.

I don't believe there is a standard. Someone else may be able to answer that.

The gas port for the Midlength (on LWRC's) is approx 2" further up the barrel (towards the muzzle end) than the carbine model.

I don't think you can make a carbine length into a midlength.
The carbine port would have to be welded, then you run into barrel integrity issues (Kaboom) when you try and perform this.

To go from one to the other, have the barrel changed to the configuration you want.

Do I understand correctly that the 12.7" upper can be purchased either with a carbine-length gas system or a mid-length gas system? I didn't see that as an option on the webstore.

Does anyone have a 12.7 m6a3 with a midlength gas system they can post pictures of?

I'm pretty sure that you can purchase 12.7" with the midlength, just give CS a call and they can set you up.

You can contact the vendors under dealer forums on this sight, they can help you also.
