IMHO, Spikes Tactical makes the best .22 LR conversion kit on the market. It's nickle plated, so it's a breeze to clean and it has O-ring seals in the chamber to reduce gas escaping into the chamber, adding velosity and keeping it cleaner inside the chamber. A definite winner in my book.

Go to the .22LR section and check it out.

Disclaimer: When I first got mine I was having FTE problems. All I had to do was lightly polish the chamber of the kit (not the rifle) with some JB Bore Paste on a patch. Ran like a sewing machine after that. In fact, I liked it so much that I built a dedicated upper around the conversion kit.

Personally, I Would For-Go The Conversion And Buy The Dedicated .22 LR Upper From Spikes.
Because It's Set-Up With The Proper Rifling Twist For The .22 LR And You Don't Worry About
Gumming Up Your Gas Port.

Hell , I'm Even Going For The FA Option ,
Not Much Is More Fun Than A Full-Auto Silenced .22LR !!!
And Cheap To Shoot .

+1 for a spikes dedicated.

I have a complete upper with YHM midlength handguard, a cheaper light and mount, AFG, Troy sling mount, tac latch, and flip up sights.....all to make it as close to my M6A3 upper. I also occasionally swap my aimpoint ans MS2 sling onto it. Eventually I'm going to swap a Vltor buttstock and MIAD grip on my other lower to have eveything match.

For me, I'm not willing to run cheap .22 thru my LWRC.......would be like running E85 thru a Mercedes to me.

Your LWRC can handle 22 like nobodies business. Just avoid the lead nose junk.

Until they make truly jacketed .22...I'll pass. I shoot 90% CCI standard velocities since they stay subsonic in my silencer. Only comparable ammo that will cycle and remain subsonic in a 16" barrel I can find that is copper washed is Winchester Dynapoints and finding them has been harder than picking winning powerball numbers!

Just fyi....Federal copper washed .22 leaves just as much lead and crap in my silencer as lead nosed CCI standard velocity.

I've Been Running The Winchester Sub-Sonic HPs With Good Luck,
Not As Accurate As 'Green Tag' Buy Any Means ,
But A Lot Cheaper !

how does it work with the piston system. im new to the piston set up but my bolt carrier is different then the gas bolt carrier. so when i put in a .22 gas carrier how does it work with the piston set up? i guess i dont need the science behind it. a simple it just does will do or a dont you dare do that you idiot would even suffice.

Well, if you have a newer one piece carrier, you either have to remove the operating rod, or you need to file/grind down the conversion kit where it meets the rod so it will fit properly in your reciever. Other than that, it should work fine.

The piston system (other than physical dimension issue mentioned above) is a non-issue. The 22 kit turns the gun into a recoil/ blowback operated system. The piston (or gas system on a DI gun) has nothing to do with operation of the gun when it is running the conversion kit.

Yeah, just pull the piston parts out when you want to run it as a .22. I realise it's something of a PITA, but it's worth it to save some $$$ to pratice live fire drills and so forth. Happy shootin' :)
